The music is strong across the board, with the jam-electronic crossover being a genuine differentiator. The knocks are logistical: getting in and out of Rothbury is a production, and the value equation gets murky once you add camping and travel. But for pure immersive festival experience, Electric Forest is elite.
01Stages & Lineup
Electric Forest runs across multiple stages spanning the grounds and Sherwood Forest itself. Some stages are announced. Some you have to find.
Ranch Arena
The main outdoor stage — massive production, video screens, fireworks. ILLENIUM and Excision headline here. This is where the biggest moments happen, with 40,000 people under the Michigan sky.
Sherwood Court
Sits at the edge of the tree line with elaborate light displays. The second main headliner stage. Kaskade and GRiZ's Chasing The Golden Hour set play here. The transition from daylight to the forest light show behind the stage is one of the most beautiful things in live music.
Tripolee
The dedicated electronic/rave stage. Lasers, massive sound, packed every night. Chris Lake, ISOxo, Sammy Virji, Purple Disco Machine, and Ganja White Night play here. If you're into electronic music, you'll end up at Tripolee more than anywhere else.
The Honeycomb
Inside Sherwood Forest. Intimate sets and surprise performances — some announced, some not. The stage is nestled in the trees and feels like stumbling into a secret concert.
The Observatory
Another forest stage with a more curated, experimental feel. Smaller crowds, closer proximity, and the kind of sets that become the stories you tell for years.
The Grand Artique
Part trading post, part immersive theatre, part art installation — with live music woven throughout. Not a traditional stage but an experience area where performance, audience, and art blur together. Secret performances happen here that never appear on any schedule.
Carousel Club
A covered tunnel stage — great for rain or shade. The acoustic environment inside is unique and the production fills the space in ways open-air stages can't match.
The Hangar
An immersive experience area — not a music stage. Hosts activities, vintage arcade games, workshops, a decorated airplane hangar, and a secret speakeasy called The Captain's Lounge (accessible with a special pin). The Hangar is where the Electric Forest community lives between sets.
02After Dark & The Forest at Night
Electric Forest doesn't have an 'after-show' scene because the forest itself never sleeps. Sherwood Forest transforms completely after dark.

The forest is lit up with art installations, hidden stages, secret bars, and surprises around every corner. Walking through Sherwood at night is a completely different experience than during the day. This is the soul of Electric Forest — the thing that makes it unlike any other festival on earth.

Good Life area has late-night silent discos and exclusive after-hours programming. The campgrounds have their own parties. But honestly — Sherwood Forest until 3am is the move.

03Getting There
Double JJ Resort, 5900 Water Rd, Rothbury, MI 49452.
✈️ Fly into Grand Rapids
Grand Rapids (GRR) is the closest major airport — about 1.5 hours (80 miles) away. Chicago O'Hare (ORD) works for those driving from the south.
🚗 Driving & Arrival
Rothbury is a small town — stock up on supplies before you arrive. A nearby Walmart and gas station are your last stops. Once you're on site, you're on site.
04Food & Drink
Food vendors are solid across both the campgrounds and the festival grounds.
Campsite Supplies
You can bring 1 case of beer/seltzer/canned wine per person into camp — no glass. Keep shelf-stable snacks at your campsite (trail mix, freeze-dried meals, fruit) because weather can temporarily shut vendors down.
Inside the Venue
Budget $15-20 per meal inside the festival grounds. Solid variety — local Michigan spots mixed with festival staples. Quality has been consistently good in recent years.
Hydration
Free water refill stations are throughout the grounds — bring a reusable bottle or hydration pack. This is non-negotiable. Michigan humidity plus dancing equals dehydration fast.
Eat at your campsite before entering the venue to save money and time. Alcohol is 21+ with a wristband — bring a valid ID every day.

Two ticket tiers: GA (standard camping) and Good Life (VIP — early Wednesday entry, upgraded campsites, flush toilets, private showers, golf cart shuttles, VIP lounge and stage).

Don't skip the early arrival pass (Tuesday entry for GA). Don't rely on cell service inside Sherwood Forest. Don't over-schedule — the forest rewards wandering, not planning.

Enter Sherwood Forest with zero agenda. Find the Dream Emporium scavenger hunt. Discover the art installations. Stumble into something unexpected. This is the point.
- 4:00 PMNap or Hammock
Find shade in the forest, string up your hammock, and rest. The marathon is about to accelerate. Napping now means you can go until sunrise.
- 6:00 PMGolden Hour at Sherwood Court
Sherwood Court at sunset is the most beautiful moment at Electric Forest. The stage production meets the forest light show as the sun drops. Don't miss this.
- 8:00 PMHeadliner Time
Ranch Arena or Sherwood Court for the headliner. ILLENIUM, Excision, Kaskade, or GRiZ depending on the night. Position yourself mid-field.
