About MerleFest
MerleFest is a roots music institution founded in memory of Merle Watson (son of folk legend Doc Watson) in the Appalachian foothills of Wilkesboro, North Carolina. The festival features bluegrass, folk, country, and Americana across 13 stages on the campus of Wilkes Community College. The emphasis on songcraft and acoustic musicianship sets MerleFest apart from louder, flashier festivals. The jam sessions, workshops, and instrument contests celebrate the craft of making music.
